We are just about into April and that means the NFL draft is getting closer.

The Cleveland Browns like every other team around the NFL are finalizing their draft plans over the coming weeks.

Cleveland’s biggest need continues to be at the quarterback position, a spot they’ve been unable to get right with a long-term answer over the past couple of decades. In the latest full mock draft for the Browns here at A to Z, the Browns trade up to land their quarterback.

Round 1, Pick 2: DE Abdul Carter, Penn State

By taking the best player in the draft the Browns pass on Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders. Passing on Sanders shows the Browns don’t see much of a gap between him and the next quarterback on their board. Carter played just one full season as a full-time EDGE and he was an All-American. An athletic freak that could be a double-digit sack guy in Year 1 opposite of Myles Garret.

Browns trade picks No. 33, No. 104, and No. 179 to the Los Angeles Rams for pick No. 26

Round 1, Pick 26: QB Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss

The Browns make a trade-up to land what they hope is the quarterback of their future. Dart showed consistent improvement over his career and could work well in Kevin Stefanski’s system. Dart brings dual-threat ability and should bring a decently high floor.

Round 3, Pick 67: RB Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State

Cleveland badly needs to find a running back who can be the future starter in this draft. They do right down 71 to Columbus to grab Judkins, who is a complete running back who excelled at two major programs. Judkins runs hard behind his pads and loves to bring in contact. A willing pass blocker who can provide explosive plays as a pass catcher as well.

Round 3, Pick 94: OT Charles Grant, William & Mary

If Grant played at a higher school he would be a lock to be a top 50 player. The Browns land a talented guard who should fit their system well with his athletic ability at tackle. Cleveland hopes Dawand Jones and Jack Conklin are the duo for another year, but they have to find a future right tackle.

Round 6, Pick 192: WR Pat Bryant, Illinois

Bryant is a big-bodied wideout at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds that loves him some blocking. The Illinois wideout improved each year over the past three and topped out with 984 receiving yards in 2024. Browns need to continue adding to the room.

Round 6, Pick 200: TE Luke Lachey, Iowa

Currently, Cleveland doesn’t have much depth behind David Njoku and that will change. Lachey struggled with injuries in college and that impacted his stock and what he was able to do in college. I see a player who is going to end up being a better pro than a college player if he can stay healthy. Lachey is a former Division I high school basketball recruit at 6-foot-6 and is best as an intermediate pass catcher. Solid blocker but needs to keep improving.

Round 6, Pick 216: DL Rylie Mills, Notre Dame

Adding depth to the interior of the defensive line has to happen. Mike Hall Jr. showed promise in his rookie season but his availability was also a worry. Mills played in 61 games for Notre Dame over the last five years and was very good in 2024 with 37 tackles and 7.5 sacks.

Round 7, Pick 255: S R.J. Mickens, Clemson

Cleveland needs to sign a starting safety to go alongside Grant Delpit and some options still exist out there in free agency. After losing D’Anthony Bell in addition to Juan Thornhill, depth is a concern. Mickens is another player who has played a ton of college football, but age doesn’t matter this late. A standout for Clemson’s defense in 2024 with 75 tackles and a pair of picks.
