Nick Chubb has not played since Week 2 and he played in less than half of that game, but his dominance is still showing in the NFL.

Since 2018, the Cleveland Browns’ running back has a firm lead on the most runs of at least 20 yards, despite missing almost all of this season.

The statistic goes to show that Chubb is the most explosive back in the game since he’s been a pro. Cleveland’s run game has missed Chubb’s presence mightily this year. In less than six full quarters of football played, Chubb ran for 170 yards this season at a 6.1-yard per carry clip.

Jerome Ford is now Cleveland’s lead back and he is averaging just 3.9 yards per carry and that number is carried a bit by a few big runs that he has broken off. Pierre Strong Jr. is running it at 4.4 per carry, but he has under 50 attempts on the season. Kareem Hunt is who he is, and that’s a short-yardage back that will get you tough yards. Hunt is getting 3 yards a run.

Chubb has 60 runs of at least 20 yards in just 77 games, the next closest is Derrick Henry with 46 runs that long, but he’s played in 86 games since that time.

Cleveland fans and the franchise itself are holding out hope that Chubb can return from the serious knee injury and be at least close to the player he was. If he can indeed do that, he will still be one of the best backs the NFL has to showcase.
