Cleveland Browns might just be the team for one of the best available free agents remaining to sign

The Browns may want to open the bank up for one of the best free agents still available.

The Cleveland Browns have had a decently busy few days of free agency so far and they have a new looking offensive line to show for it.

Cleveland started its additions to the offensive line last week with a trade of OT Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans. The first free agency move for the Browns was signing former Los Angeles Chargers G Zion Johnson. The Browns then added former Green Bay Packers C Elgton Jenkins and re-signed G Teven Jenkins.

It’s been a complete overhaul for the offensive line almost, but there’s still the left tackle position to figure out

Rasheed Walker being available still could mean good things for the Browns

Former Packers LT Rasheed Walker was one of the top free agents available entering free agency and he’s still there. Walker was the No. 9 player available in the A to Z Sports’ top-100 free agents list. With not having signed a contract yet, Walker may come in a bit cheaper than expected.

The majority of the top offensive tackles still sitting out there could mean the market isn’t what was expected. RT Braden Smith signed a deal with a $10 million APY, which could be a good sign for the market, even if he’s 30 years old.

Walker just turned 26 years old and has been a dependable starting tackle for the last three years. A former seventh-round pick by the Packers in the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker is a major success story. Walker is a good pass protector and below average run blocker. Cleveland badly needs better pass protection from their left tackle in 2026.

The Athletic had Walker tabbed as a four-year, $88 million contract projection and it’d be a surprise if he signed a deal of that size on the fourth day of free agency. It didn’t make a lot of sense for the Browns to spend big on a perhaps slightly above-average left tackle, but they should be in if he’s coming at a ‘discount’.

Signing Walker would give the Browns a fully capable offensive line heading into the 2026 season and they’d be free to take the best player available at No. 6 overall in the draft. The said player could be someone like Ohio State WR Carnell Tate to upgrade the offense, or perhaps they trade back and draft USC’s Makai Lemon.

Cleveland at the very least should be involved in the Walker market with him still available. There’s really no reason not to be at this point.
