Injuries have stayed away from the training camp field for the most part to begin training camp for the Cleveland Browns until Thursday when a player had to be taken on a helicopter to a local hospital.
Running back D’Onta Foreman was taking part in a kicking drill when he went down injured and had to be immobilized and carted off the field, into an ambulance. Following that, it was actually a helicopter that took Foreman to a nearby hospital.
According to the team, Foreman suffered a direct blow to the head that caused some neck pain. The training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman. Foreman had movement in all limbs and was being transferred to a medical center in Roanoke, Virginia for further evaluation.
Foreman was a key free agent signing for the Browns due to the uncertainty of when Nick Chubb would be able to return from his knee recovery. He is a player that is going to firmly be in the game plan for what the Browns want to do on offense along with running back Jerome Ford.
Following practice when safety Grant Delpit picked off quarterback Deshaun Watson to end the day, the team gathered in a prayer circle for Foreman. Any time a player is taken off on a cart, worry grows and rightfully so. When they have to leave in an ambulance, or in this case a helicopter, the worry grows a bit more. The location very well could play a part in the helicopter being used.
It was noted that Foreman was in good spirits as he left the area at the Greenbrier resort where the Browns are spending the first part of their training camp. As more information becomes available, A to Z Sports will update this post.
