The days are counting down until the 2026 NFL Draft and the Cleveland Browns have big decisions to make on what will happen with their two first-round picks.

Following the thick of free agency, the Browns’ biggest needs are at quarterback, wide receiver, and left tackle. Cleveland isn’t likely to take a QB in the first round due to where they’re positioned, so the other two positions could be filled early on.

Over the past couple of weeks and into the next couple of weeks, the Browns will finish up visits and finalize the draft board. An interesting name has popped up on who the Browns could be drafting early.

A dark-horse draft prospect may have come about for the Browns’ No. 6 pick

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, the Browns are a team to watch as a potential landing spot for former Alabama Crimson Tide OT Kadyn Proctor. Proctor is a mammoth of a tackle at 6-foot-7 and 360 pounds, but hasn’t necessarily been an early first-round name connected to the Browns.

“Consensus is not easy to find right now, but one name that I haven’t seen linked to the top 10 as often is Proctor. He has incredible traits, led by his mammoth size at 6-foot-7 and 352 pounds with nifty athleticism. He could be in play for the Browns at No. 6 and the Chiefs at No. 9.” — Field Yates, ESPN

Proctor will get his shot as a tackle, but guard is where he eventually lands according to the majority of draft experts. The 6-foot-7 offensive lineman played left tackle only at Alabama, but he’s best when he gets to work upfield using his body to pave roads. Proctor seems like a dangerous pick to make in the top 10 when you factor in the reality he’s possibly a guard.

Cleveland needs to hit on a Day 1 contributor who is going to be able to step in and start for them without being an anchor to the team. I’m not sure Proctor can be the guy to do so right off the rip in Cleveland, and I’m not alone in the thought because there’s just been no real smoke around him with the Browns.

The last time the Browns took an offensive tackle out of Alabama it was Jedric Wills Jr. at No. 10 overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Wills pick didn’t work out and he was a better prospect than Proctor is coming out of this class.

On the reverse, the Browns could have a different take than the general thought and they may actually really like Proctor quite a bit. Yates throwing his name out for pick No. 6 is interesting and noteworthy at the least.
