Cleveland Browns are flipping the switch in preseason game No. 2 against the Washington Commanders.
After resting 37 players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame matchup against the New York Jets, that number has shrunk quite a bit.
Earlier in the week, head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed that the Browns will roll with just about everyone that healthy and can suit up. That means that QB Deshaun Watson will be making his preseason debut.
“We’ll play the majority of our starters in this game,” Stefanski said Wednesday. “Deshaun (Watson) will play in this game. We’ll see if it’s one (or) two series, we’ll kind of be playing that one by ear.”
There are a few players that won’t be suiting up for the Browns. Backup RB Jerome Ford is dealing with a hamstring injury that has him “week-to-week”, and edge rushers Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas have knee injuries that could keep them out into the season.
With the defensive ends out, an opportunity arises for a player like rookie Isaiah McGuire. There is a chance there for McGuire to carve out a depth role for the Browns early on.
