The NFL is a couple of weeks from trimming 90-man rosters down to 53, meaning a lot of players will be out of a job.

Cleveland Browns will have their fair share of moves to make and some will be tough.

Currently, battles are going on at the end of the roster at multiple positions. Those battles are taking place at safety, running back, and along both lines to name a few spots.

It’s been a good training camp for some players that should help their case if they’re battling for a roster spot. On the other hand, some current members of the roster aren’t having the same luck out there.

Not all of these players are in danger of being cut due to being recent draft picks, though they need to pull it together.

K Cade York

York looks like an excellent kicker in practice and has all training camp, then it’s not translating to games. York has missed a kick in each of the first two preseason games. Both of the kicks were from inside 50 yards. Having been a fourth-round draft pick, York will be given a longer leash. But after a rocky rookie season, he needs to show some consistency this year.

WR Anthony Schwartz

If it wasn’t for uncertainty around whether or not Marquise Goodwin can return, Schwartz would be as good as cut. With that uncertainty remains a chance for Schwartz to make the team from his speed alone. Since entering the NFL, the player with track speed has been a big disappointment. During both preseason games, Schwartz has had his fair share of issues including a fumble. Time is ticking for Schwartz and he may not be on the roster in two weeks.

OT James Hudson III

The emergence of Dawand Jones has been the story of the offensive line in terms of backups in this training camp. Hudson is the team’s swing tackle and has struggled in the preseason. Hudson had trouble against the Washington Commanders and gave up easy routes to the quarterback for the pass rusher. It’s not been a very good preseason for Hudson but the Browns hope he can continue to progress under offensive line coach Bill Callahan.

WR Jaelon Darden

Availability is important and Darden hasn’t had much of that this camp. At one point, it looked like Darden could be in contention for a depth spot at wide receiver. Since then, he hasn’t been available due to a leg injury. If you can’t get out there in the preseason and you’re on the edge of the roster, you’re not going to make the team.

LB Matthew Adams

Injuries are unfortunate and this is another player that hasn’t been available. Adams made his training camp debut recently after missing the first couple of weeks with a calf injury. Adams is primarily a special teams linebacker first and foremost. Cleveland has a pretty good one of those in Jordan Kunaszyk, so it may make eating the $300,000 in dead cal a bit easier if the Browns cut him.
