Cleveland Browns continued to practice on Thursday in preparation for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, so that means more injury updates.
Most notably, QB Deshaun Watson (shoulder) is practicing for the second day in a row. After missing practice yesterday, RT Dawand Jones (shoulder) returned to practice as well.
Not practicing on Thursday are WR Marquise Goodwin (unknown), WR David Bell (knee), CB Greg Newsome II (groin), and DE Alex Wright (knee).
Watson returned to practice yesterday after missing Week 8 against the Seattle Seahawks. The shoulder did not look ready in Week 7 against the Colts, then he left the game after a hard hit to the ground early on. Getting out to practice for the first time since was important.
"It was good. It was fun. Another work day in the progression,” Watson explained on Thursday during his availability.
Whether Watson plays or not will likely depend on how he looks the rest of the week, then the Browns still may rest him at least one more week.
"I feel good. The process has been going up. We're right on track where we need to be, from what I feel like,” Watson said.
Jones being back at practice is a good sign for him being able to play in Week 9. If he couldn’t go, it would be swing tackle James Hudson in his place.
Newsome not practicing for a second straight day could be trending toward not playing against the Cardinals. If Newsome can’t go, it will be rookie CB Cam Mitchell in his place, who the staff is high on.
With Bell and Goodwin not practicing, the Browns have no choice than WR Cedric Tillman to step up. He is someone they will rely on after moving Donovan Peoples-Jones.
