News broke over the weekend that the Cleveland Browns certainly didn’t want to hear — involving the third player they selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Running back Quinshon Judkins was arrested in Broward County, Florida, on a charge of domestic violence.

From Sergeant David Soika of the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Media Relations Unit, on Judkins’ arrest:

“On July 12th, at approximately 9 a.m., Fort Lauderdale Police Officers responded to the 1500 block of West Cypress Creek Road in reference to a delayed battery. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim. During their preliminary investigation, it was determined a battery had occurred. The officers made contact with the suspect and placed him into custody. He was transported to Broward County Main Jail. The suspect has been identified as Quinshon Judkins, DOB 10/29/2003, and has been charged with Misdemeanor Battery (Domestic), FSS 784.03-1a1.”

NFL Releases first statement on RB Quinshon Judkins’ arrest

NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy issued the following statement regarding Judkins’ arrest:

“We are aware of the matter, but will decline further comment.”

Judkins could be subject to suspension under the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy, regardless of the outcome of the criminal case. The former Ohio State standout is viewed as the Browns’ running back of the future, following the departure of Nick Chubb. Cleveland also selected former Tennessee RB Dylan Sampson later in the draft to bolster the position group.

Browns rookies are set to report to training camp in Berea, Ohio, later this July. Whether Judkins is on the field will depend on whether he signs his rookie contract in time. Either way, the national champion is not off to the smoothest start at the pro level.
