The latest NFL news is perfect for a team like the Cleveland Browns.

Today, it was announced by the NFL that the salary cap for the 2024 season would be set at $255.4 million, which is an unprecedented increase north of $30 million over last season.

A large jump in the salary cap is the result of the full repayment of all amounts advanced by the clubs and deferred by the players during the Covid pandemic as well as an extraordinary increase in media revenue for the 2024 season.

According to Over The Cap, the Browns are set to be $6.2 million over the cap. If it has been off of last year’s cap, they would be north of $35 million over the cap. The news is going to be well received by the Browns, who were always prepared for a big jump in cap anyway.

Cleveland will restructure multiple contracts before long, including the one of Deshaun Watson. The Browns are going to make plenty of space to be active in free agency and they’ll have an extension or two to give out in 2024 possibly as well. An allotment of the cap will always have to go to the draft class too.

A Friday news dump that the Browns and many other teams around the league are certainly going to be thankful for.
