With the Tennessee Titans coming to town this week, I think it's important to remember one of the most impressive stats from this rivalry.
This is the fact that Andrew Luck never lost to the Tennesee Titans during his NFL career.
Andrew Luck played 11 games against the Titans during his seven-year career and never lost a single game. That level of dominance over one single team is pretty unheard of, especially when that team is in the player's division and plays him twice a year.
Luck's Games vs. Titans:
- 10/28/2012: Colts 19 Titans 13
- 12/9/2012: Colts 27 Titans 23
- 11/14/2013: Colts 30 Titans 27
- 12/1/2013: Colts 22 Titans 14
- 9/28/2014: Colts 41 Titans 17
- 12/28/2014: Colts 27 Titans 10
- 9/27/2015: Colts 35 Titans 33
- 10/23/2016: Colts 34 Titans 26
- 11/20/2016: Colts 24 Titans 17
- 11/18/2018: Colts 38 Titans 10
- 12/30/2018: Colts 33 Titans 17
The Colts outscored the Titans 320 to 207 with Luck under center. In all eleven games combined, Luck threw for 2,935 yards, 21 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
"Luck" ran out:
Since the shocking retirement of Andrew Luck, the Colts success against the Titans has drastically fallen off. The Colts and Titans have played eight times since Luck's retirement. The Colts are 2-6 in those outings and have lost five straight, with their last win coming in 2020.
- 9/15/2019: Colts 19 Titans 17
- 12/1/2019: Colts 17 Titans 31
- 11/12/2020: Colts 34 Titans 17
- 11/29/2020: Colts 26 Titans 45
- 9/26/2021: Colts 16 Titans 25
- 10/31/2021: Colts 31 Titans 34
- 10/2/2022: Colts 17 Titans 24
- 10/23/2022: Colts 10 Titans 19
A big reason for the Colts recent struggles has been the constant revolving door at QB that the team experienced from 2019 to 2022. During that span, the Colts had a different starting QB each season.
- 2019: Jacoby Brissett
- 2020: Philip Rivers
- 2021: Carson Wentz
- 2022: Matt Ryan
A New Era:
The Colts finally chose to stop trying out retread QBs and drafted their own with the 4th pick of the 2023 NFL Draft, Anthony Richardson. Richardson has already looked the part for the Colts, as they hope they have finally found their long-term answer at QB.
Richardson is set to take on the Titans for the first time this Sunday for the Colts Week 5 matchup. Luck's 11-0 dominance is not a reasonable expectation for any QB, let alone a rookie. But breaking the Colts five-game losing streak to the Titans would be an outstanding way for Richardson to start his own road to dominance over the Titans.
Thursday Injury Report card
The Colts should zero in on this weak spot on the Titans offense
After four weeks, the play of this Titans offensive lineman has made him a clear weak spot that the Colts should use to their benefit in Week 5.
