One Dak Prescott play from the latest training camp practice injects Cowboys Nation with hope

Going into the 2025 NFL season, one of the biggest concerns surrounding Dak Prescott's play is his mobility.
Early in his career, Prescott's ability to use his legs was a big part of his success and though he's grown as a passer to the point of being the MVP runner-up in 2023, each passing year he becomes less of a threat on the ground.
A small sighting during Thursday's practice is giving fans hope for that to change in 2025 as he returns from a nasty hamstring injury.
Dak Prescott runs the read option at practice
We had already seen Joe Milton do it a day before but Prescott keeping the ball on the read option to take off and run was a play that immediately turned heads on Thursday.
Now granted, the pads won't come on until Sunday and this is just the third practice of training camp. But still, Prescott running a keeper has many hoping that aspect of his game can return this year.
Will Prescott actually run more in 2025?
Since his ankle injury in 2020, fans and media members have speculated about why Prescott doesn't run as many times anymore. Is it because of the team's or his preference? Is he just not as fast anymore so there's no point?
"That's part of it—me playing my best, I'm mobile, whether it's actually running past the line of scrimmage or it's just scrambling, making plays happen with my arm," Prescott said in April. "So that's vital for me. That's a big part of this. I've been running more.
What we do know is head coach Brian Schottenheimer has been talking about the offense being multiple, and he even teased pistol and wildcat formations being in store for the 2025 Cowboys.
Will that translate into more option plays for Dallas? We'll see. But for now, fans will get excited at the prospect of a more mobile version of Prescott in 2025.
If the Cowboys do lean on his legs, expect it to be in very limited doses. After all, the veteran quarterback has dealt with multiple leg injuries at this stage of his career and I'd be surprised if either the front office or coaching staff want to play with fire.
