Latest NFL Draft intel may hint at where the Broncos are trying to swing just weeks away from the big event
Sean Payton is busy leading up to the NFL Draft.
The Denver Broncos have spent the offseason building from within. Most of the moves the team has made have been taking care of their own, being the only team during the busy free agency period to not sign another player that wasn’t on the roster. That, of course, doesn’t include the blockbuster trade to bring in wide receiver Jaylen Waddle from the Miami Dolphins.
With the upcoming NFL Draft just weeks away, we may have gotten a hint at where the Broncos are going to swing in the later rounds. It’s been reported by Mike Klis that the Denver Broncos held a top-30 visit with Missouri offensive tackle Kaegen Trost. Trost may move to guard in the NFL, as Klis reported, and is a projected day-three selection.
The Broncos could get a monster in Keagen Trost
As Bleacher Report reported, Trost is a “barrel-chested, strong blocker with just enough initial burst to get centered and unlock his power. However, his marginal athleticism and lateral quickness restrict his margin for error and put a hard cap on his ceiling.”
The 6-5, 311-pound offensive line prospect originally entered the Morgan State program as an undrafted recruit in the 2019 draft class. He transferred several times in his collegiate career, first to Indiana State in 2020 and then again to Wake Forest for the 2024 campaign before finishing his collegiate career with Missouri.
He started 11 games at right tackle for Wake Forest in 2024 and 13 games at tackle for Indiana State while starting just two games in his lone season with Morgan State in 2019.
He’d be a huge addition to the roster and would provide some valuable depth. Broncos Country knows all too well what happened last season with the offensive line due to injuries, and it’s something that head coach Sean Payton is looking to avoid again.
A to Z Sports’ Ryan Roberts weighs in on Trost
Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports had a lot to say about Trost, and it should more than fire up the fan base if Denver winds up taking a swing and selecting him in the upcoming draft.
“Trost has had a remarkable path to becoming a draftable offensive lineman in the 2026 NFL Draft class. The sixth-year senior has spent time with Morgan State, Indiana State, Wake Forest, and Missouri during his career. In that lone season with Missouri, Trost became one of the more dependable offensive tackles in the SEC. While he doesn’t have the greatest physical skills of all time, Trost has consistent hands, both in terms of making early contact and resetting his hands in pass pro.
“His lack of foot speed is going to kick Trost inside, where he projects favorably as a developmental starter with his raw power and balance. At worst, this is a player who should be able to fight for a roster spot as a swing player inside, who can also get a team out of a game at offensive tackle. This is potentially a tremendous late Day Three value.” – Ryan Roberts
If Denver sticks to the blueprint of building from within while sprinkling in high-upside additions, a player like Trost fits exactly what this front office has shown it values. He may not be the flashiest of selections, but he’s the kind of depth piece that can quietly pay off in a big way when the season inevitably tests a roster.
And if the Broncos learned anything from last year, it’s that those are the players who can end up mattering the most.
