The Detroit Lions will hold their rookie mini-camp next weekend, and we'll get a chance to see what some of these rookies look like with the team and hear from them, too.

The Lions will get a chance to try some players out as well. Last year, they invited 15 players to try out for the Lions, and multiple guys were veterans. Two veteran players got signed out of that, too. Parker Hesse and Kaden Davis.

Here are five veteran players that the Lions should invite to tryout:

CB Trayvon Mullen

It's still a little bit surprising that the Lions didn't bring in a little more cornerback competition during the later rounds of the draft or the UDFA period. Here's a chance to do that.

Mullen was taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and had a solid start to his career with the Raiders. He then suffered a foot injury, which broke a long 36-game streak for him in 2021, and he hasn't been the same since.

Last season, he signed with the Ravens and looked really good in the preseason until he dislocated his shoulder and had to miss the entire season. In Detroit, he can get a chance to compete for a spot and show that the injuries are over.

FB Giovanni Ricci

If the Lions were considering a fullback, here's one that could be fun. The former Western Michigan Bronco has shown to be a pretty decent fullback in a league that's been kind of going away from the position. The Lions didn't have one last year, but this might be safer than having another player at a different position do it.

TE Quintin Morris

Morris has actually already been in Detroit recently. He came in for a free agent visit in March. That doesn't mean that he couldn't come in for a tryout and have a chance to show what he can do with other players on the field with him.

QB Desmond Ridder

A long shot for sure, but there's something there for Ridder if he just finds the right team and the right situation. He's not a starter, but he can be a good backup, and he has good knowledge of the game. Teams need guys like that. He wouldn't be the only quarterback trying out there, either. So far, we know Eastern Michigan's Cole Snyder will be there.
