7 winners and 3 losers from Lions win over the Texans, could a player be making a big comeback?
What an unbelievable win for the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. It's still crazy to think that actually happened, yet you still feel not that shocked becasue this Lions team has been beyond resilient for years now. What an unbelievable win for the Detroit Lions on Sunday night. It's still crazy to think that actually happened, yet you still feel not that shocked becasue this Lions team has been beyond resilient for years now. We've got some winners and losers to go over in this one, here's what we got:
Winners
James Houston
I don't know if we can come out and say that Houston is back just yet, but that was a solid game for him. He showed that closing speed we all missed in his first sack on Stroud and then showed that signature bend and a real persistence on the second one. He also added two pressures. Let's see if he can keep it going.
Carlton Davis
Davis just went out there and took the game into his own hands in this one. He snatched two interceptions with the second one being huge in the grand scheme of things. He robbed the Texans of what felt like a surefire touchdown with a pick in the end zone. Davis also had two pass break ups as well.
Brian Branch
He's just so good out there that he makes it look effortless. Branch had pass breakups, tackles for losses and plain old regular tackles in this one. Everything he did was smooth and he is just one of the best defensive players in the league.
Penei Sewell
Sewell made plays happen late in this game, Any time you saw Gibbs breaking a play, you saw Sewell right next to him laying out defenders and clearing a path. He deserves a game ball if you ask me.
Aaron Glenn
AG continues to shut people up on a weekly basis. At one point he was the scapegoat of this team, now he's a guy that is leading one of the best defenses in the league to a second half shutout. He's going to be a great head coach in this league.
Jake Bates
The kid just has it man. Both kicks were super scary and defintley peeled some paint off the posts, but they went in and that's all that matters at the end of the day.
Jared Goff
Yeah, I'm putting him in this section. Goff had a really bad three quarters, but he was sharp when the team needed it in the fourth. He went 6-8 for 79 yards and a touchdown in the final frame and that's a big reason this team won.
Losers
Jared Goff
Ok, but you can't do that again. Five interceptions is no easy feat. Goff had to work hard to play that bad. The tipped ones and the hail mary can be excused to a point, but his fourth and fifth ones were wild throws that just didn't need to be made. Hopefully he gets back to the guy we've been used to seeing this year.
Dan Skipper
You can give some leniency here since Skipper has never started a regular season game at tackle, but it's still is main position and he struggled to play it on Sunday. Skipper gave up four pressures and multiple quarterback hits. He's a great swing tackle, but he struggled as a starter.
David Montgomery
The Texans just saw him coming in this one and they managed to hold him to just 32 yards on 12 carries. He did get a touchdown though.
Games like Sunday’s are why the Lions paid Jared Goff all that money, this headline is not a typo
I'm sure there's going to be a lot of people wondering about that headline. How could I write such a thing after Detroit Lions' quarterback Jared Goff went out there and had arguably the worst game of his entire career? Maybe throw out the arguably, he threw a career high five interceptions. That was really […]
