Welcome to Senior Bowl week. The Detroit Lions are going to be down in Mobile, Alabama, this week to watch some of the best college football players work in the game’s biggest college all-star game. The game itself can be watched on Saturday at 1:3o P.M. ET on NFL Network, but make no mistake, the practices are what the NFL teams are there for. There are a lot of things that can be learned during these practices.

Here’s the top eight guys that we believe the Lions are there to keep an eye on:

Romello Height, Edge, Texas Tech

Height’s teammate David Bailey is no longer in the building, but the Lions are not likely to have a shot at him falling to 17 anyways. They will have a shot at Height there, though. He is no consolation prize. Height put up 62 pressures and 10 sacks in 2025 and was Pro Football Focus’ sixth-highest graded edge rusher in the nation.

Kaytron Allen, RB, Penn State

It’s all going to depend on what the Lions do with David Montgomery. If they trade him, Allen is essentially a younger version of Montgomery, but is a better pass protector and could possibly be better in the pass game. It’s Sonic and Tails instead of Sonic and Knuckles.

LT Overton, Edge, Alabama

We know Brad Holmes and the Lions love Alabama and were out there again this season. Overton has shown a lot of promise for the Tide. He racked up 24 pressures and five sacks in 2025. What fits the Lions a little more is that he’s a really good run stopper. The Lions could get him on day two.

Jake Slaughter, C, Florida

With Auburn’s Connor Lew tearing his ACL, Slaughter is the top center in the draft now. He would be a solid center for the Lions and would start immediately in the event the Lions are not able to find their starting center in free agency. Slaughter allowed four pressures and one sack this season in the SEC.

Gennings Dunker, OT, Iowa

Dunker is the best tackle in Alabama this week. He’s our 34th-ranked player on our AtoZ Sports big board. He’s mostly been a right tackle, so if the plan is to move Penei Sewell to left tackle, Dunker can jump right in. He allowed 10 pressures and two sacks this season.

Kamari Ramsey, S, USC

We don’t know what 2026 looks like for Kerby Joseph or Brian Branch yet, but there’s a good chance the Lions are waiting for one of them to get healthy. Ramsey is the second-best safety in the draft, and the Lions could score him in the second round.

Garrett Nussmeier, QB, LSU

The Lions are likely to take a look at quarterbacks this year since Hendon Hooker is out and Kyle Allen is a free agent. Nussmeier is the best of a pretty bad quarterback situation in Mobile. He’s a third-round pick at this point, and the Lions have a chance to bring him in and develop him for a few years and see if he can take Goff’s spot once the Pro Bowler’s deal is up.

Zion Young, Edge, Missouri

Another strong edge that we know the Lions have gone out to look at this season. Young put up 56 pressures and eight sacks in 2025.

Other names to keep an eye on

  • Trey Zuhn, OT, Texas A&M
  • Ndame Tucker, Edge, Western Michigan
  • Parker Brailsford, C, Alabama
  • Michael Taafe, S, Texas
