It's only been two weeks, but the Detroit Lions have been leading the league in surprise inactives. In Week 1 it was James Houston, in Week 2 it was second-round pick Ennis Rakestraw. Now we know why.
It wasn't because he was a healthy scratch and it wasn't a punishment thing, it's because Rakestraw got hurt during warmups according to Dan Campbell.
“It happened in pregame. It was just a little hamstring, I don’t know. That happened literally 4 minutes before we had to turn in the inactives, so we were up against the clock.”
So there it is. A hamstring injury and the Lions were up against it, so they just made the quick call to not push it with the injury and let Rakestraw sit this one out.
