Detroit Lions Mailbag: Are the Lions still a four-down offense under John Morton?
It is so damn hot outside right now, so let's stay inside and answer some Detroit Lions questions. I think it's reasonable for TeSlaa to jump Tim Patrick in the depth chart and take that WR3 spot, but there are still so many targets ahead of him at this point. So with that in mind, […]

I think it's reasonable for TeSlaa to jump Tim Patrick in the depth chart and take that WR3 spot, but there are still so many targets ahead of him at this point. So with that in mind, the projection I made when projecting all rookie stats was 30 receptions for 389 yards and three touchdowns.
That's a pretty solid rookie season for him if you ask me.
Who will be the Lions starting center come December?

I'd really like to see how things go in camp before a full-on projection is made, but if I had to make an educated guess right now, it's likely to be Graham Glasgow.
Tate Ratledge may be the idea for next season and beyond, and I think Kingsley Eguakun can make a name for himself this summer, but Glasgow has history at center for this team whenever Frank Ragnow would get hurt, and you can't overlook that. A veteran presence in the middle is needed with such a young interior.
The philosophy of the Lions offense isn't going to change. This team is still very much going to be a four-down group. What feels a little safer about Morton than his predecessor is that he might be more interested in going with what works to get that first down than going with a risky trick play to make it work.
I still think you're going to see trick plays and whatnot, but the video I've gotten from Morton is that this offense is going to be all about efficiency first. Do what catches fish and don't do what doesn't.
In my opinion, the chances are up there. I've made it no secret that I'm very high on Hassanein and have been since the Combine. The work ethic is something special, but he's also just an athlete in every sense of the word.
He'll be green at first, and you'll probably see guys ahead of him to start, but I think he's starting opposite Aidan Hutchinson by the end of the year, and he's someone I can see getting 6-8 sacks this season. Maybe I believe too much. We'll see very soon.
There's going to be multiple fun camp battles to watch this year for sure. Here's what I'm watching intently:
The battle for center: Graham Glasgow vs Tate Ratledge vs Kingsley Eguakun vs Michael Niese
QB2 showdown: Hendon Hooker vs Kyle Allen
Depth safety Fatal 4-way: Dan Jackson vs Morice Norris vs Loren Strickland vs Erick Hallet
WR3 battle, the young vs the old: Isaac TeSlaa vs Tim Patrick
RB3 clash: Craig Reynolds vs Sione Vaki
The Lions seem more interested in creating that balance between speed and shifty, hard-nose running. Montgomery is latter right now, but we don't know how long he's going to be in Detroit, and Sione Vaki is someone who definitely fits that bill.
If Gibbs gets hurt, we've seen from Montgomery that he can be the primary ball carrier on this team. He may not have that blazing speed, but he can make a man miss for sure.
Is Christian Mahogany the love child of Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams?

Interesting. It's time to investigate. First off, we know that Billy Dee Williams is from New York and Christian Mahogany is from neighboring New Jersey.
We also know that Williams is cool, and Mahogany is also cool. So there's an argument that this could be some sort of hereditary thing. But is it enough to prove that he's Mahogany's father?
In February of 2024, Williams told People Magazine that he never dated Diana Ross. Although he also said he enjoyed kissing Ross on screen in the 1972 film Lady Sings The Blues.
So we know that Ross is likely out as the mother for Mahogany since Williams implied there was never a hookup and he was dating his now wife, Teruko Nakagami, at the time.
Also, Mahogany was born in 2000 when Williams was 63 and Ross was 56. I'm going to go ahead and make a ruling that they are not his parents.
I'll also include this in my portfolio as proof that I've done investigative journalism. This is my Watergate.
Thousands of Detroit Lions fans are being lied to, and now some media outlets are believing it too, beware of the A.I. Slop
I honeslty didn't think there would be a reason to write a follow up piece to an A.I. themed artilce I wrote a few weeks ago, but I've learned so much since then and something big happened in the NFL world this week that shows both fans and media need to be very careful with […]
