Let's play detective here for a moment shall we? The Detroit Lions are a team that is in desperate need of pass rusher help with Aidan Hutchinson, John Cominsky, Marcus Davenport and Josh Paschal out. We know they've been calling around looking for teams to trade with and one of the teams they may have called is the New England Patriots.

They have edge rusher Josh Uche there and he has been the subject of trade talk all season long. Lions fans have actually been asking about him since last season. They've been wanting the former Michigan Wolverine back in Michigan.

On Sunday the Patriots surprisingly made him a healthy scratch ahead of their matchup with the Jets. NFL insider Jordan Schultz has thoughts as to why.

The NFL trade deadline isn't until the 5th, but the Patriots might have plans to move Uche as early as Monday and here's a way to make sure he doesn't get hurt ahead of the trade.

Could that trade be happening with the Lions? There's reason to believe that it could be. The Lions are in need and they notoriously aren't looking to spend a lot. Uche is on a one-year deal with the Patriots right now and his contract is very small with a base salary of $1.3 million.

The other thing is that Patriots aren't going to sell for much here. The Lions could get him for a fifth-round pick. That's the type of compensation that's right up the Lions alley.

We'll see soon enough if this is the guy the Lions are making a move for. Until then we'll just continue to wait patiently.

Update: The Lions did not make a trade for Uche, the Chiefs did though.
