The Detroit Lions will play their final preseason game when they take on the Houston Texans this week.
The Lions will face the Texans at Ford Field on Saturday, Aug. 23, at 1:00 p.m. ET. Don’t expect to see many starters, or really any, in this game. The final preseason game is usually reserved for the young players trying to get those last few spots, but there are still some big storylines to pay attention to in this one.
Here’s everything you need to know to take in the game on Saturday:
How to watch, listen to, and stream the Lions’ preseason Week 3 game against the Texans
Just like last Saturday, the Lions will be nationally televised this weekend on NFL Network. So beware of that if you’re outside the local market. If you’re in the local market, the game will be shown on Fox 2. If you’re outside of the local area, your local Fox affiliate will be showing the game. For example, Fox 17 in West Michigan will have the game.
If you’re looking to stream the game, the league’s streaming service, NFL+, will show the preseason finale live.
For those who are on the move and unable to watch, you can listen to a live radio broadcast locally on 97.1 The Ticket. For all other stations across the state, refer to the Lions radio broadcast map here.
Hendon Hooker has one last chance to impress
After Saturday’s game, things looked pretty bleak for Hendon Hooker’s chances to make the Lions’ 53-man roster, but Lions coach Dan Campbell would not rule him out. He said that he plans to continue to coach him up and that Hooker could possibly start on Saturday.
This is a big chance for the former third-round pick to go out and show enough to at least get the Lions to consider keeping three quarterbacks on the 53-man roster. If he struggles in this game, that will likely be the end for him.
Nate Lynn, Keith Cooper, and Isaac Ukwu fight for that last edge rusher spot
All three of these have taken turns one-upping each other this summer, and now it feels like whoever has the best game on Saturday will be who gets the gig. Right now, it feels like Nate Lynn has the upper hand.

If the Lions cut these 3 guys, they’re probably not getting a chance to get them back on the practice squad
Detroit Lions training camp is almost over, and we’re less than a week away from Tuesday’s final cutdown. Every year, the Lions cut players that you probably think shouldn’t be cut and then bring them back on the practice squad. Sometimes, the Lions will cut a player and not get him back because he’ll get […]
