There isn’t a Detroit Lions fan alive who isn’t hoping the Lions bring back Za’Darius Smith this season. The most recent update we’ve got wasn’t the best one. Lions GM Brad Holmes said the Lions had been in contact with him recently and that the final roster spot, which was filled by Thomas Harper shortly after, was not for anyone specifically. He did, however, say that anything was possible.

On Monday, we got another nice little tease in a long line of teases on this subject when Smith’s girlfriend and Detroit rapper Kash Doll wore a Lions Za’Darius Smith jersey on stage for her latest performance.

It wasn’t long ago that Kash Doll was on an Instagram live with Smith, telling him to come back to Detroit. Similarly, it wasn’t long ago that Smith was on the red carpet at the BET Awards with Kash Doll, where he made this statement.

“We both know where I want to be,” Smith said. “Hopefully, I can get back to Detroit because the coaching staff and everybody in the front office are great. When I’m there, I feel like a leader and like I can influence the young guys and do great things. Hopefully, I can get back to where I want to be in Detroit.”

We’ll see where things go from here, but Week 1 is here, and it doesn’t look like Smith’s return is happening this week or anytime soon. But like Holmes said, anything is possible.
