If you read that Shane Zylstra article we wrote a little bit ago, now is the time when we say we told you so. The Lions are really building out that tight end room and looking to have a full-on competition outside of Sam LaPorta.
So far they've brought back Shane Zylstra and then signed former Jets tight end Kenny Yeboah. Now they're going back to the AFC East and are bringing in former Bills tight end Quintin Morris for a visit on Tuesday.
The Bills brought in Morris as an undrafted free agent out of Bowling Green in 2021. He has spent the last four years with the team as a blocking tight end. Morris has a bit of a leg up on the competition so far since he has shown to be a better run-blocking tight end than the four guys currently on the roster. When he was in on runs, he usually would pull a PFF grade in the 60s in run blocking.
Morris can be a pass catcher as well at times, although don't expect another Sam Laporta here. Think more Brick Wright than anything. He has 15 receptions for 146 yards and three touchdowns in three seasons.
we'll see what happens with his meeting. If the Lions sign him, we'll be sure to update you.
