You hate to see stuff like this. After a phenomenal rookie season that saw him set the record for most receptions by a rookie tight end, Detroit Lions rookie Sam LaPorta went down in the second quarter with a rough looking knee injury. 

We don't know the full extent of what that injury is just yet, but Lions head coach Dan Campbell gave a bit of a notable update in directly after the game. You decide if this is good news or bad news. 

That's rough. We don't fully know right now, but this seems to suggest, at least to me, that LaPorta could be out for the Lions first round game, but that maybe he can return during the playoffs in the event that the Lions make a run. 

We'll keep you updated on LaPorta as the week goes along and we start to learn more about the injury and what his status will be. The same goes for Kalif Raymond. Hopefully both make a speedy recovery. 

Update: For what it’s worth, Travis Kelce had this same injury right before Week 1 and he wound up missing just that one game.
