When Detroit Lions fans fall in love, they fall in love quick and they fall hard. That's exactly what happened when they saw Jake Fromm take the field in the closing minutes of the Lions preseason game against the Steelers.

We'll admit it, Fromm was dealing in that one. He came in and threw eight passes and completed six of them for 89 yards. The highlight throw was one that didn't even get completed. He dropped a pass in the bucket so perfectly for Jake Funk that Funk must have been mesmerized by it and just forgot to catch it.

We can understand the love that Fromm was getting, but there was no way the team was keeping him on their 53-man roster. But he did do enough in his short time in that game and during training camp to earn a spot on the practice squad and he's got it now.

Fromm is still on the younger side at 26-years-old and maybe over time the Lions can turn him into a solid backup quarterback. For now he'll help Jared Goff and the rest of his teammates get ready for game day.
