Lots of teams have talent and athleticism, but love is what makes the Lions this good

Do not take this the wrong way because I'm not saying it in a pejorative sense, but I've never seen a football team cry or almost cry as much as I have the Detroit Lions. That's a good thing.

In the last few years, we've seen Dan Campbell cry in public a few times and we've also seen Jared Goff get choked up as well. On Sunday night you saw it after Goff was asked what Campbell meant to him. He could barely get through it.

It's such a special thing to see in this game and we see it a lot from the Lions. In such a macho sport where things like this used to get stigmatized, it's refreshing to see a team go out there with their heart on their sleeves.

It's all love. You see that word gets thrown around a lot all over sports and the Lions do it too, but the thing is that when you watch this team, you can really see that they actually love each other and they remind each other constantly of that love.

It feels like this is the reason why the Lions keep propelling to different levels every year. There's no doubt that they are a very talented bunch and that they have all the requisite athleticism and grit and whatnot, but it's the drive to make sure their brother doesn't have to feel bad for anything because they love their brother that is driving this thing.

There's so much pride in this group and you see it in every locker room celebration on Twitter after the game. It's not "good game men." It's "I'm so fucking proud of you guys man." That makes all the difference in the world because we're all chasing that feeling regardless of profession. We want to be told that someone is proud of us because dammit, that feels better the win sometimes.

It makes you feel loved and when you feel that way, you feel like you can do anything. You feel like you can overcome five interceptions and still win a game. You feel like you can stare down a 14-2 team and come out with the win.

I'm sure that there are other teams that have love for each other, but after being around this Lions team for the last four seasons, I can't say I've ever seen anything like it. Definitely not in Detroit.

When the team says they're built differently, it's not just because they went through hell to get here and have no fear anymore, it's because they were built with love. There is no stronger ingredient.
