Veteran Lions defender hints that he may have played his last game for Detroit
The Lions could be looking to get younger and more healthy at the position
The Detroit Lions finished their 2025 season in emotional fashion. They beat their former offensive coordinator, Ben Johnson, and their NFC North rivals, the Chicago Bears, 19-16. After the game, there were a lot of tears being shed in the locker room as await the possible retirements of Taylor Decker, Graham Glasgow, and Dan Skipper. While much of the focus was on the offensive side of the ball, one defensive player hinted that he might also be done in Detroit.
Amik Robertson hints that his time in Detroit might be over
Robertson will be a free agent this offseason, and it would appear that maybe he will not be returning to Detroit. With Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw expected to be back and the Lions may be looking to get younger at the position, it makes sense that they might look to move on from some of the older players.
The Lions added Robertson ahead of the 2024 season to be their starting slot corner, and he had a strong year. It was even stronger when he had to finish the season on the outside. Unfortunatley he broke his arm early in the Divisional Round game against the Washington Commanders.
This season, Robertson was forced to play more than any other cornerback on the team because he was really the only one who stayed healthy. Robertson had some great moments in 2025 and some really bad moments. But you have to hand it to the guy. He worked his tail off for this team and gave it his all this year. Now it appears he might be looking for a new home in 2026.
