Jordan Love spills the beans on key detail that might give the Packers a major boost heading into the 2025 regular season
Quarterback will be ready to go when it matters the most.
The Green Bay Packers are handling many injuries now. For the preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks, a total of 19 players were inactive—including quarterback Jordan Love, center Elgton Jenkins, and wide receivers Christian Watson, Dontayvion Wicks, and Savion Williams.
Outside of Watson, who is expected to start the regular on the physically unable to perform list, most of the pieces should get back soon. During the preseason finale broadcast, Jordan Love revealed that several players will be good to go against the Detroit Lions in two weeks to kick off the regular season.
Jordan Love himself is handling a left thumb injury, which led to a surgery and made him miss the final two preseason games. He was limited at practice this past week, but will not miss regular season time.
“With all our injuries, we’re gonna get a lot of guys back for Week 1,” Love told Packers TV Network, while admitting it wasn’t ideal to miss training camp time, which could affect chemistry early on.
At the same time, Love is confident. After a year full of injuries and their effects, the quarterback expects to be fully healthy when the Packers face the Lions.
“Week 1, we’re gonna be good,” Love said, asked when he would be 100%. “We’re gonna be rolling.”
Dontayvion Wicks missed a significant portion of training camp due to a calf injury, while rookie Savion Williams had a hamstring issue. It’s unclear when they will be back, and who Love was talking about, but it’s certainly a promising development to start well against an NFC North rival.
Roster battles
The Packers have to reduce the roster from 90 to 53 players by Tuesday. At wide receiver, there are some intriguing battles—the biggest one is probably between Malik Heath and Mecole Hardman for the final roster spot. At quarterback, Jordan Love and Malik Willis are expected to be the only players on the 53-man roster, while Sean Clifford and rookie Taylor Elgersma are fighting for a practice squad spot.
