The Green Bay Packers are still very much alive in the NFC playoff race. With three games left, against the Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, and Minnesota Vikings, the team can even win the NFC North if things go right.

But it’s hard to expect things to go right after the devastating outcome of the 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos on Sunday. Not because of the game itself, but because edge defender Micah Parsons is out for the season with a torn ACL.

Matt LaFleur wants his team to keep battling

With the mentality that “nobody will be sorry about us,” head coach Matt LaFleur wants his team ready next week for a big game against the Chicago Bears. That’s how he plans to motivate his team back.

“Well, I think it’s easy,” LaFleur said when asked about how he would make this team motivated again. “I think we’ve got a connected team, and I know how our guys will respond. We’ve got a great test coming up going to Chicago, a game that went down to the wire last time we played. Obviously, they rolled [against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday], so it’s time to go back on top of the division. I know we’re going to get their best, and they’re going to get our best.”

The Packers have had a particularly tough time this season with impactful injuries. Beyond Parsons, tight end Tucker Kraft and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt are also out for the year. However, LaFleur knows this is just the nature of the sport.

“It is what it is,” LaFleur added. “Everybody faces adversity, everybody faces injuries, everybody has challenges. It’s the National Football League, and you can’t do anything about what’s out of your control. It’s all about how you respond to it. Our guys are going to have to get back into the training room and get healthy, and we’ll put together a good plan and then go compete on Saturday night.”

With the loss to the Broncos, the Packers fell to the seventh seed in the NFC. If they win on Saturday, though, the Packers get back to first place in the NFC North. The Super Bowl looks like a pipe dream at this point, but the roster will battle to overcome everything that has happened.
