The score doesn’t even matter that much. The Green Bay Packers are going through a real nightmare scenario during the Denver Broncos game. When the team was leading 23-21, star edge rusher Micah Parsons suffered what looked like a bad non-contact knee injury.

UPDATE: It is believed to be a torn ACL.

The Packers invested two first-round picks, Kenny Clark, and a four-year, $186 million extension in Parsons. And he was having the exact type of impact any team could hope for from a star player. If Parsons is out, it’s hard to imagine the Packers overcoming it down the stretch.

More impactful injuries

Parsons’ knee injury is obviously the most impactful, but the game already had a lot of big injuries for the Packers. Right tackle Zach Tom left the game in the first half, being replaced by Darian Kinnard.

In the second half, wide receiver Christian Watson left with a chest injury after hitting the ground on a play on which Jordan Love was picked off. Safety Evan Williams also suffered a knee injury during the second half, and backup tight end Josh Whyle had a concussion early in the game.

It’s just a nightmare scenario for Green Bay all around

Tight end Tucker Kraft is already out for the season with a torn ACL, and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt won’t return either with a lower-leg fracture.

The Packers still have good players: Love, Josh Jacobs, and Xavier McKinney. But it’s just too many injuries for top players to overcome, and it’s hard to see a scenario where it doesn’t have a costly effect down the road — whether it’s in the playoffs or even before that.

Losing any player is tough. But outside of Love, no injury would kill the Packers’ hopes in 2025 outside of Parsons. That’s what happened, though, and it’s impossible to sugarcoat its impact on what’s about to happen.

The Packers still have a solid chance of reaching the playoffs. But if Parsons’ injury is as serious as it looked, the possibility of actually winning a Super Bowl has gone dramatically down.
