Packers confirm suspicion about Tucker Kraft’s knee injury, and it’s a season-altering blow for Green Bay
Star tight end will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL.
The worst possible news for the Green Bay Packers has just been confirmed. Tight end Tucker Kraft has in fact suffered a torn ACL against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, which means he will go through surgery and miss the rest of the 2025 season. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter reported the update.
“Yeah, it doesn’t look good,” head coach Matt LaFleur had revealed after the game.
The offense will inevitably suffer without Kraft. This year, the team had a 50.2 percent success rate with him on the field, according to Sumer Sports, and 39.1 percent without him.
Next man up
ACL recoveries tend to take around 10 months, so Kraft will likely miss next year’s training camp and preseason as well — he should be ready around the start of the regular season. Meanwhile, Luke Musgrave will be the primary tight end on the field.
“Luke’s had his fair share of opportunities for sure,” quarterback Jordan Love said on Sunday. “He’s played a lot of ball and he made some big-time plays [on Sunday], had a big-time catch, so I think he should keep building on that. He’ll get more opportunities, and he’s just got to keep maximizing those opportunities. Luke’s played a lot of ball, got a lot of confidence in him.”
The Packers also have John FitzPatrick on the 53-man roster to act more like a blocker and special teamer. Josh Whyle, formerly from the Tennessee Titans, is on the practice squad since Week 1 and could be promoted to give more depth to the room.
The trade deadline is on Tuesday, so it’s still possible that the Packers make a move to address a new need.
But there’s no way around it, losing Tucker Kraft is a massive blow to the Packers’ Super Bowl aspirations.
