Saturday night's matchup against the New England Patriots certainly didn't feature the explosive Green Bay Packers offense we saw the previous week against the Cincinnati Bengals, but that was to be expected, considering the opponent.

As with any game, there was both good and bad performances. We've already talked about the good offensive performances, so let's go ahead and dive into the bad ones.

C Josh Myers

Botched snaps have been an unfortunate, yet frequent, part of Packers training camp and Myers has been largely responsible for the misfires.

On Saturday night, it bled through into the Patriots game.

It happened on the Packers' first offensive drive of the game, too. And, it was a 3rd and five. Myers' snap went wide right of Love and Josh Uche was able to dive on the ball. The Patriots later scored a touchdown to go up, 7-0.

In other words: There aren't too many other scenarios in which it could've been a worse time. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur explained what happened after the game and while it's not as black-and-white as it seems, the bad snap was ultimately on Myers.

"Basically, we were using a dummy cadence and one of their d-linemen flinched – he just didn't go into the neutral zone," LaFleur explained after the game. "So, when that happens, we teach the centers to snap the ball if they cross into the neutral zone and it didn't appear that their d-linemen went into the neutral zone. And Jordan [Love] wasn't ready for the ball."

Myers has to get his head on straight and correct his disappointing training camp/preseason and he needs to do it, stat. The team has already been looking at alternative options at center. LaFleur and co. won't hesitate to take his job away if he continues to malfunction and there are guys like Zach Tom they can plug in if they decide to do so.

RB Tyler Goodson

Goodson was having a great training camp and making all kinds of big plays, but an injury against the Bengals forced him to miss the last week, including Saturday night's game.

Goodson had to watch undrafted rookie free agent Emanuel Wilson lead the team in rushing yards for the second straight game and he also had to watch Patrick Taylor, his primary competition for the RB3 job, score a nifty touchdown and lead the running backs in special teams snaps.

The battle for the RB3 job is as narrow as they come and there's always the chance the Packers carry two running backs on the 53-man roster like they did last year.

To be sitting on the sidelines, through no fault of Goodson's, is not a situation any player involved wants to be a part of.

QB Alex McGough

McGough played just seven snaps against the Bengals and while we don't know for sure if he would've seen time against the Patriots – it certainly didn't look like LaFleur had plans to put him in before the game ended early.

Part of me thinks LaFleur wanted to see how rookie backup QB Sean Clifford would respond to a four-point deficit, which makes a lot of sense considering the Packers head coach's recent "gamer" comments. Clifford has shown he isn't afraid of the moment, so it's a good idea to see what he can prove when the chips are down, so to speak.

Either way, McGough has seven total snaps in 1-3/4 preseason games, which isn't ideal. Sure, he's getting a lot more camp reps with Danny Etling out of the picture, but at this point, he needs live game reps if he wants to make the roster.

I don't foresee Jordan Love playing next week against the Seahawks and I can totally see a world where Clifford plays the first half and McGough comes in for the second half. Still, McGough has to have an excellent week of practice and he has to shine against the Seahawks after Saturday night.
