The Green Bay Packers started on Wednesday their on-field preparation to finish off the regular season against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. And eight players of the 53-man roster did not practice.

Wide receiver Christian Watson (knee), cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), safety Evan Williams (quadricep), linebacker Quay Walker (ankle), safety Zayne Anderson (concussion), edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. (foot), and tackle Andre Dillard (concussion) were not on the field.

Left guard Elgton Jenkins had not been seen by the media, but he was listed as limited. It is not a big reason for concern, though. He's been held out of practice for most Wednesdays throughout the season, usually as some sort of veteran rest.

Jaire Alexander is out for the season, Matt LaFleur confirmed.

Evan Williams is expected to be out for longer, so it's hard to imagine him getting back in a game that doesn't have much value for standings. Watson had a shot at playing last Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, but the DNP designation on Wednesday is a continuation of what happened last week.

Running back Chris Brooks (ankle), safety Javon Bullard (ankle), running back Josh Jacobs (wrist), and tight end Tucker Kraft (rest) were all limited.

Better piece of news

Defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt left the Vikings game in the concussion protocol, but he was on the field for practice. This is a good indication that he either didn't suffer a concussion or is evolving well into the protocol.

Other side

Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears also have several players on the injury report, and there's little reason to force them in a meaningless game — the Bears are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention.

Tackle Larry Borom (illness), safefy Elijah Hicks (ankle/foot), running back Travis Homer (hamstring), guard Teven Jenkins (calf), and wide receiver Rome Odunze (illness) were estimated as non-participants, since it was only a walkthrough. Moreover, safety Tarvarius Moore (knee) was listed as a full participant, but he is handling a knee issue.
