Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are now under risk of losing their second quarterbacks coach in two years. After Tom Clements’ retirement last year, now Sean Mannion has become a real candidate for the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive coordinator job.

CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz initially reported the first interview. Then, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo added that Mannion actually advanced to the second phase of the process — after a first virtual interview, he will have an in-person meeting with the Eagles.

Rising star

Sean Mannion has been perceived as a future head coach for a long time — since he was still an NFL quarterback. As soon as Mannion decided to retire, head coach Matt LaFleur made sure to get him on board with the Packers.

Initially, Mannion was hired in 2024 as an offensive assistant. When Clements retired, the riser was promoted to quarterbacks coach — and helped Jordan Love have a career year in 2025.

“He’s got a bright future in this profession,” LaFleur recently said. “He attacks it the same way I knew he would when he was a player. Just extreme ownership of everything, puts in the time and goes above and beyond the call of duty, which is exactly what you want from your assistant coaches.”

Mannion was also named the offensive coordinator for the West Team in the 2026 East-West Shrine Bowl, one of the top all-star games for college players entering the draft process.

Possible replacement

If Sean Mannion leaves the Packers, the natural option to take over as a quarterbacks coach would be senior assistant Luke Getsy, who’s already been a QBs coach under Matt LaFleur between 2019 and 2021. After OC stints with the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, he returned to Green Bay in 2024 — first as a defensive consultant, then promoted to a full-time gig as an offensive senior assistant.

So far, the Packers have lost three assistant coaches in 2025, all on defense to the Miami Dolphins: Defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, linebackers coach Sean Duggan, and defensive backs coach Ryan Downard.

Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich has interviewed for a play-calling OC position with the Tennessee Titans.
