Veteran CB Ronald Darby announced his retirement from the NFL after signing with the Texans this offseason

Darby began his career with the Buffalo Bills after being drafted in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft. He went on to have a 10-year career in the NFL, during which he was a member of six teams in total. He appeared in 118 games over the last 10 seasons and recorded eight interceptions and 106 pass deflections. He gets to say he is forever a Super Bowl champion after having a significant role on the Philadelphia Eagles in 2018.
The Texans signed the veteran in free agency after seeing him start 12 games for their AFC South rivals, the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was in line to be a key depth CB for the Texans this season. After training camp, there was a good chance he was going to end up being the number one bench outside CB who would come on the field anytime Derek Stingley Jr. or Kamari Lassiter needed a breather. Lassiter also has the ability to play in the slot, though, so there was a real possibility that there were certain packages that could have allowed all three to be on the field. Now, we will never know what his role would have ended up being, and the Texans' depth at CB takes a major hit.
