The Houston Texans are doing their due diligence at every position heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
According to Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz, the Texans are set to host Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins on a top-30 visit.
Judkins is one of the fastest-rising prospects in this year's draft class. He played for the Ole Miss Rebels as a freshman and sophomore before transferring to the Buckeyes for his junior year. There he won a national championship, racking up 1,060 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns along the way.
What is a top-30 visit?
A top-30 visit denotes one of the 30 prospect visits allowed for teams during the pre-draft period. The Texans host prospects varying from potential first-round selections to those who go undrafted, providing them a glimpse into NFL life in Houston. Although no on-field workouts will occur, teams can utilize this opportunity to conduct meetings with coaching staff for film analysis, perform physical exams with team doctors, tour the facilities, and more.
How does Judkins fit with the Texans?
Judkins is a three-down player who has the physicality to carry the load and doesn't have to come off the field much. Not only does he run with power and balance, but he has underrated 4.4 40-yard dash speed.
Judkins is nearly impossible to take down on first contact, as his 197 missed tackles during his three-year college career ranked in the 81st percentile. He is also a suitable route runner and pass catcher, and is a willing pass protector.
Judkins would pair perfectly with Texans' starting RB Joe Mixon, who Judkins has drawn comparisons to. The offense would not need to change based on whether Mixon or Judkins is in the game. When Houston decides to move on from Mixon, which could be as soon as after the 2025 season, Judkins would slide easily slide into the starting role.
Our A to Z Sports Mock Draft Database has Judkins ranked No. 66 overall, meaning Houston may have to select him with their 58th pick in the second round, or roll the dice on him still being available at No. 79. RB isn't a pressing need for the Texans, but Judkins could be a steal and provide not only quality depth, but get Houston out ahead of a future need.
