If you didn’t have enough fun during the “Trey Hendrickson trade saga”, another opportunity to consider taking a big swing via trade has appeared.

Dallas Cowboys superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons has formally requested a trade due to ongoing contract extension negotiations not going his way. Here at A To Z Sports, a group of us sent over trade packages we’d be willing to give up in order to land the All-Pro. Take a look at what I came up with for the Indianapolis Colts, as well as where this offer ultimately finished in the race.

What the Colts could offer for Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons

Colts get: Edge Micah Parsons
Cowboys get: Edge Kwity Paye, 2026 first, 2027 first, and a conditional 2027 third

“The Colts were one of the most serious suitors that emerged when another star edge rusher this offseason demanded a trade. That player is edge Trey Hendrickson, who the Bengals were never going to trade away. The Colts being a serious suitor, though, tells me they would have been willing to pull the trigger on handing Hendrickson the massive extension he wants if a trade were finalized. If they were willing to do that for Hendrickson, who is already 30 years old, why wouldn’t they also be interested in going all in on Micah Parsons, who is still only 26?

The Colts would want to include an edge rusher in the offer to try to lower the amount of draft capital deal like this requires. So, the Colts offer Kwity Paye, their next two first-round picks, and a 2027 third-round pick that would be returned to the Colts if Parsons, for some reason, didn’t sign an extension with the team. I’m sure the Cowboys would prefer Laiatu Latu, but I doubt the Colts’ new ownership would want to make a deal like this any riskier than it would have to be. Especially since it would be the Irsay sisters’ first major outside move since their father’s passing.” – Colts offer from 6 hypothetical trade packages for Parsons

Parsons has been one of the best defensive players in the NFL over the past few years. Star edge rushers do not become available often, whether that is via trade or in free agency. But on Friday, Parsons let it be known he has requested the Cowboys to trade him. This would be a significant move by the Colts, as it could elevate their defense to the next level. If a team is able to get the Cowboys to pull the trigger on a deal, they will need to send a lucrative trade offer, along with most likely making Parsons the highest-paid defender in the NFL. Some may think the trade package I built is too large; some of my colleagues didn’t include the first two round picks in their offers. However, I think that would be the starting point to even get the Cowboys to semi-listen to the proposal. The offer I put together was close to being accepted by A to Z Sports, as Cowboys beat writer Mauricio Rodriguez shared with me that it came in second. Ultimately, he accepted the Chicago Bears’ offer, which included a first-round pick along with a more established pass rusher in Montez Sweat. In the end, the most likely scenario here is Parsons doesn’t end up getting traded at all, and he lands a new deal with the Cowboys.
