The Indianapolis Colts and their fans are still dealing with all the emotions that came with seeing their playoff chances go up in smoke after their Week 17 loss to the New York Giants.

Even though one game remains, the team seems to have nothing to play for. This, combined with starting quarterback Anthony Richardson's already-ruled-out status for Week 18, has most of the fan base already focused on the upcoming offseason.

If that is you, we have exactly what you are looking for: NFL Draft content for the Colts. In a new A to Z Sports mock draft, the Colts bypass more pressing needs to add a dynamic player to their defense.

"Jalon Walker is an impressive athlete—quick, strong, instinctual, and adaptable—making him an outstanding player regardless of position. While he doesn't quite have the athleticism of Micah Parsons, he's close.

The Colts have witnessed Shaq Leonard's impact on their defense, and Walker has the potential to step in as a dynamic playmaker in that role."

New A to Z Sports mock draft

Jalon Walker is listed as a linebacker, but he lined up all over the defense for the Georiga Bulldogs. He spent time in the box as a linebacker but also spent significant time on the defensive line. He even logged snaps as a slot corner for the Bulldogs in 2024.

A player you saw mentioned above that many will bring up when discussing Walker is Dallas Cowboys' pass rusher Micah Parsons. That is due to Walker and Parsons playing multiple positions in college, which leads people to debate where players are best off playing in the NFL. No one is expecting Walker to be as good as Parsons anytime soon.  But something working in his favor is that he spent more time on the defensive line than Parsons id in college.

The hybrid role, where a player plays both as a pass rusher and a stand-up linebacker, doesn't work very often in the NFL. And to me, if a player excels at something as important as being a pass rusher, that should probably be your main role. Which is what the Cowboys ended up doing with Parsons. While he still drops back in coverage here and there, his main role is leading the team's pass rush. I believe that is probably the best path forward for Walker as well. However, his ability to do both will most likely excite NFL teams as they envision creative ways to allow Walker to make plays for their defense.
