The Indianapolis Colts have multiple glaring needs, which contributed to their 2024 season-ending short of their goal of making the playoffs.

Their struggles on the defensive side of the ball led to the team choosing to part ways with Gus Bradley, whose contract with the team expired after the season. They are now actively searching for his replacement to become the team's defensive coordinator.

They may not know who will be given that job just yet, but a new A to Z Sports mock draft has them making a selection that should make their job easier.

Colts land East Carolina CB Shavon Revel Jr. in latest mock draft

"Although Shavon Revel Jr. is coming off a torn ACL, his pre-injury tape and athleticism were unreal. He'll re-establish himself as an elite corner prospect as he gets to full strength. The Colts have one of the worst cornerback rooms in the NFL, so going with the best possible player at a key position of need is a no-brainer."

New A to Z Sports mock draft

Many at the NFL level anxiously awaited to watch Shavon Revel Jr. in 2024, with multiple teams predicting that he would have a career year and take another step forward as a player. Unfortunately, an injury stole his chance to showcase his skills after just three games. But even in just that short time, he was able to set his career high with three interceptions and allowed a career-low 51.9 passer rating.

I think Revel is an excellent player and should hear his name called in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, even if his torn ACL from the season will hold him out of most, if not all on field work during the upcoming draft cycle. But I will say the Colts cornerback room outplayed many expectations in 2024. I think they are missing that true number one CB to lead the room going forward, but Jaylon Jones and Samuel Womack III showed they can play a role for the Colts going forward. I think there are more significant needs for the Colts to address in round one, and I think Revel's injury poses a big enough question that should lead the Colts to look elsewhere at pick 14. If they chose to trade back or Revel was still on the board in round two, though, I think he would be a slam-dunk selection by the team's brass.
