The Indianapolis Colts' longest losing streak of the season finally ended after three losses when they defeated the New York Jets in Week 11.
With 11 weeks of the 2024 NFL season over, the playoff race in both conferences is starting to take shape.
The Colts find themselves on the outside looking in as the eighth seed in the AFC. And looking at their remaining schedule, the most important game on their schedule is becoming crystal clear.
The Colts' Week 15 matchup vs. the Broncos is a must-win
The Colts currently sit eighth in the AFC standings with a 5-6 record, one game behind the Denver Broncos at 6-5. The two teams will square off in Week 15, and if the rankings hold, it could hold the weight of a playoff game.
The Colts' remaining schedule becomes significantly more favorable after this week's matchup with the red-hot Detroit Lions. After the Lions matchup, all but one team left has three or less wins on the year and have no playoff aspirations left for this season:
Week 13: @ New England Patriots (3-8)
Week 14: Bye Week
Week 15: @ Denver Broncos (6-5)
Week 16: vs. Tennessee Titans (2-8)
Week 17: @ New York Giants (2-8)
Week 18: vs. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-8)
On the other hand, the Broncos have multiple tough matchups remaining on their schedule, along with their Week 15 game against the Colts. The Broncos still have to play their divisional rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, one last time, along with a talented Cincinnati Bengals team, even though their 4-7 record. They do have some favorable matchups remaining, but they are still set to play a pair of 2-8 teams in the Las Vegas Raiders and Cleveland Browns.
So, the Colts still very much control their own destiny in punching their ticket to the AFC playoffs. They already own the tiebreaker over the Miami Dolphins, who sit in ninth place in the AFC, and a win over the Broncos would put them in the driver's seat for the final playoff spot.
Colts QB Anthony Richardson proved that people couldn’t be more wrong about him and was rewarded for it
The last couple of weeks have been the lowest point of Anthony Richardson's young NFL career. The Indianapolis Colts made the controversial decision to bench their 2023 first-round pick. Many in the NFL questioned his effort during this time. In Week 11, though, he put up his best performance as a pro and helped lead […]
Anthony Richardson shines in his first start back since his benching and leads the Colts to a big win over the Jets
Week 11 was a must-win for the Indianapolis Colts after losing three straight. While it wasn't easy, they were able to get the job done with a 28 to 27 win over the New York Jets. The story of the day, though, is the strong outing from Anthony Richardson after two weeks on the bench, along […]
