Another year another new QB for Ryan Kelly
The Colts center’s thoughts on his new QBs
Colts center Ryan Kelly has had quite the QB resume so far in his career. Since being drafted in 2016, Kelly has been under center for ten different QBs.
- Andrew Luck
- Scott Tolzien
- Jacoby Brissett
- Brian Hoyer
- Philip Rivers
- Carson Wentz
- Jacob Eason
- Matt Ryan
- Sam Ehlinger
- Nick Foles
Speaking with Ryan Kelly
After today's practice, Ryan Kelly met with the media to answer questions. I spoke with the Colts center and got his thoughts on his new QBs and the offseason.
Thoughts on this year's QBs
Q: Ryan, yet another year where a new QB will be under center for you. How does it feel going into this year with a younger feel with Anthony Richardson compared to the past years of veterans?
A: I think they've been great. Gardner came in day one, his energy, and the way he prepares, he is going to go out there and give it everything he's got every day and leave nothing on the table. I think that mentality for that room brings up the tempo. And having Anthony, I think, where he was at OTA's to where he was today calling plays in the huddle. The enthusiasm, the command of that huddle, I thought was incredible. So to make him make those strides has been really awesome.
Kelly had solid praise for both QBs currently battling for the team's starting job. For him to bring up Gardner Minshew without being prompted really stood out to me. It shows the respect Minshew has been able to earn in such a short time so far. And to hear Kelly speak of the improvements he's seen mentally from Anthony Richardson from OTA's to now is a very insightful nugget that the Colts and their fans must be excited to hear.
Reaction to being involved in trade rumors this offseason
Q: This offseason was the first one where your name came up in trade rumors; how do you attack that different aspect of the offseason
A: I don't care, I dont look at it.
In early March, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN shared that multiple teams had told him that "Ryan Kelly is available for trade." As you read above, Ryan Kelly didn't give much thought to the rumors this summer, and today it was business as usual for the Colts center.
