Five people the Colts need to let pump up the crowd by hitting the anvil in 2024

The Indianapolis Colts get fans at Lucas Oil pumped up even before the opening kickoff of each game with an event that has become a tradition.

Where they have a special guest take a hammer and hit an anvil to pump up the crowd. In the past, they've had former Colts, doctors and teachers in the area, other athletes connected to the state, and more participate in the tradition.

And in 2024, there are five people that I think have to be on their list to hit the anvil.

Pat McAfee

This one is pretty simple, Pat McAfee is not only the best punter in the history of the Colts franchise, but he is also a proud Indiana resident and Colts season ticket holder. He's one of the most electrifying human beings on planet Earth, and any time he's had the opportunity to get a crowd pumped up, it's a next-level experience.

He's been on the anvil multiple times over the years. And to be honest, I think the Colts should commit to letting McAfee have a turn on the anvil once per season. So, let's get the hammer back in McAfee's hands this season. I'd even make sure he did it during one of the three AFC South matchups at Lucas Oil Stadium.

T.Y. Hilton

T.Y. Hilton, or The Ghost, is one of the best WRs to ever represent the horseshoe. Like McAfee, Hilton has stuck around the area since his time playing for the team ended. And I think he would love the opportunity to be in front of Colts Nation for this type of honor.

I think having Hilton on the anvil for any game would get a great response from the fanbase, but let's be honest with ourselves there's one specific game he should be on the anvil for. It needs to be Week 1 vs. the Houston Texans. It would allow Colts fans to celebrate a franchise great as well as allow Texans fans to see the owner of their franchise again.

Caitlin Clark

It's an excellent time to be a sports fan in Indianapolis, with the Indiana Pacers coming off an Eastern Conference Finals appearance. As well as the Indiana Fever adding one of the most anticipated rookie athletes in sports history this year, Caitlin Clark.

The city and the rest of the country have had their eyes glued on Clark and the Fever throughout the WNBA season to date. I would honestly be shocked if Clark isn't on the anvil at some point next season. She already revved up the crowd for a Pacers playoff game, and now it's time to hit the anvil at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Darius Butler

Similar to McAfee, Darius Butler has made quite the name for himself in the sports media world since his playing days came to an end. To this day, he still clearly roots for the Colts, the team he spent the majority of his career playing. He also does a podcast with fellow former Colts safety Antoine Bethea called the Man to Man pod. Bethea has had his chance on the anvil, so now I think it's Butler's turn.

Jack Doyle

Last but not least is former TE Jack Doyle. Doyle is a born and raised Hoosier who attended Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. Every single game he played in the NFL came with his hometown team, the Colts. He went on to have a successful nine-year career and was selected to two Pro Bowls. I think it would be pretty cool for the Colts to have Doyle on the anvil during the game fellow former Colts TE Dallas Clark is inducted into the teams Ring of Honor, which has been announced for the 2024 season.
