While most of the top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft have been able to display their skills in front of NFL teams, Iowa CB Cooper DeJean had to wait until Monday to do so.
This should interest most Indianapolis Colts fans since DeJean fits the style of DB the team typically covets and has been linked to the team by multiple top draft analysts.
And the numbers being reported from his Pro Day only solidify that claim.
DeJean has been connected to the Colts quite a bit this draft cycle even though he's been injured up to this point. The reason being many view him as one of the most athletic CBs in the 2024 NFL Draft Class. On Monday he was able to show exactly why he is viewed in that light.
And he didn't disappoint with the news of him running a 4.43 40 yard dash, a 38.5" vertical, and a 10'4 broad jump. As well as measuring in just under 6'1" and 202 LBs.
DeJean is a versatile defensive back who is being projected as both a CB and an S at the pro level. While it's been reported that most teams view DeJean as a safety, I think he would play CB in the Colts defensive scheme. And he'd be a welcomed addition to the secondary due to his ability to truly play anywhere in the secondary would be incredibly valuable.
With DeJean not being healthy up to this point there was starting to be questions on how far he could potentially drop in the draft. But after testing so well I think it's safe to say DeJean will be a top 40 pick in the draft. And I'd even go as far to say I'd be shocked if he doesn't get drafted in the first round. So the question is, if the Colts were to take him, would it be at 15, or would they trade him back?
