With the 2024 NFL Draft in the books, the Indianapolis Colts have begun signing undrafted free agents and inviting players to attend their upcoming rookie minicamp.

They already have a pretty large group that agreed to attend, and multiple come from local colleges in Indiana.

Notre Dame

  • Spencer Shrader, K, Notre Dame
  • Michael Vinson, LS, Notre Dame (Tryout)

The Colts looked to Notre Dame to bring in two special teamers for their upcoming rookie minicamp. The first was their choice to sign Notre Dame kicker Spencer Shrader, and the next was an invite to long snapper Michael Vinson. Having a familiar face working with Shrader on special teams should help Shrader's case to make the team's 90-man training camp roster. Shrader spent his first four years in college at South Florida before ending his collegiate career in Indiana at Notre Dame.

Purdue

  • Ben Farrell, OL, Purdue (Tryout)

The Colts will be bringing a Purdue Boilermaker to training camp in offensive lineman Ben Farrell. Farrell only spent one season on Purdue's football team and has had a unique path to the NFL to date. He began his college sports career as a NCAA D3 athlete, not football though, but golf.

Indiana State

  • Dakota Caton, WR, Indiana State (Tryout)

An Indiana State Sycamaroe will also be a part of the Colts' rookie minicamp, with WR Dakota Caton accepting his invite. Caton began his college career in 2018 and spent all five seasons at Indiana State, though he ended up redshirting in 2021 due to an injury. Caton ended his career with 102 catches, 1,152 yards, and nine touchdowns, with him setting career highs across the board last year with 39 catches, 413 yards, and three touchdowns. Caton's ties to the Hoosier state go beyond attending Indiana State, with the WR growing up in Sullivan, Indiana.
