The Indianapolis Colts have already added three players through the first two days of the 2025 NFL Draft. They selected Penn State TE Tyler Warren in the first, Ohio State edge rusher JT Tuimoloau in the second, and Minnesota CB Justin Walley in the third.

They now head into day three of the draft with four picks remaining and multiple positions that make sense as options for them to target with those selections. Below, I share each position that I believe the Colts will consider targeting on day three of the draft, and share players that I believe they could select. Stay till the end of the article for a special surprise, UDFA options to monitor at a specific position.

Offensive Line

The biggest shock from the Colts' first three selections is that they have yet to address the offensive line. The team lost two starters in free agency and has a large hole on the roster at right guard. Some solid options are still available that they could consider to fill that hole, as well as some reserve linemen who would be a good fit for the team.

Day 3 draft pick options:

  • Miles Frazier, G, LSU
  • Marcus Mbow, G/T, Purdue
  • Jalen Rivers, T/G, Miami
  • Bryce Cabeldue, G/T, Kansas
  • Jackson Slater, Sacramento State
  • Chase Lundt, T, UConn
  • Joe Huber, G, Wisconsin
  • Clay Webb, G, Jacksonville State
  • Myles Hinton, T, Michigan
  • Jack Nelson, T, Wisconsin
  • Caleb Etienne, T, BYU
  • Dalton Cooper, T, Oklahoma State

Linebacker

It would be a surprise if the Colts leave this draft without adding at least one linebacker. They lost a lot of snaps at the position in free agency and need to add at least one player who can compete to start, and could also use more options to be rotational players on defense and impactful special teamers.

Day 3 draft pick options

  • Smael Mondon Jr., Georgia
  • Barrett Carter, Clemson
  • Jack Kiser, Notre Dame
  • Cody Lindenberg, Minnesota
  • Teddye Buchanan, California
  • Jalin Walker, Indiana
  • Kain Medrano, UCLA
  • Shaun Dolac, Buffalo

Running back

Day three always felt like the most likely time the Colts would address their need at RB. The team is in the market for the top backup spot behind Jonathan Taylor. Preferably, this player would be able to impact the pass game as both a pass catcher and, more importantly, a blocker. And if the player has the upside to develop into a future starter, that would be icing on the cake.

Day 3 draft pick options

  • Damien Martinez, Miami
  • Devin Neal, Kansas
  • DJ Giddens, Kansas State
  • Kyle Monangai, Rutgers
  • Cam Skattebo, Arizona State
  • Dylan Sampson, Tennessee
  • Ollie Gordon II, Oklahoma State
  • Tahj Brooks, Texas Tech
  • Jo'Quavious Marks, USC
  • Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Arizona

Defensive line

The Colts landed a defensive lineman already, but they could very well still be in the market for more. They still need to add a defensive tackle who can back up Grover Stewart and help the team stop the run at a high rate, even when Stewart is on the sideline. And even though they already added an edge rusher, there are some intriguing names still available that I think the team could still target.

Day 3 draft pick options:

  • Bradyn Swinson, Edge, LSU
  • CJ West, DT, Indiana
  • Joshua Farmer, DT, Florida State
  • Aeneas Peebles, DT, Virginia Tech
  • Ty Robinson, DT, Nebraska
  • Jordan Phillips, DT, Maryland
  • Barryn Sorrell, Edge, Texas
  • Tyler Batty, Edge, BYU
  • David Walker, Edge, Central Arkansas
  • JJ Pegues, DT/FB, Ole Miss
  • Jay Toia, DT, UCLA
  • Thor Griffith, DT, Louisville
  • Cam Horsley, DT, Boston College
  • Zeek Biggers, DT, Georgia Tech
  • Nash Hutmacher, DT, Nebraska
  • Elijah Ponder, Edge, Cal Poly

Quarterback

The Colts have done a ton of work on quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft. They have primarily been linked to day three options throughout the cycle, though. The team always brings four QBs to training camp, and with Sam Ehlinger leaving in free agency, they only currently have three on their roster. Finding a player that can compete with Jason Bean as the emergency QB three is a must. Multiple options left could check that box and have serious upside to become the team's long-term backup. And at this point, you have to wonder if the Colts are at all interested in a player like Shedeur Sanders that they didn't expect to be here, that would have by far the most upside in terms of being a starter at the NFL level of the options available

Day 3 draft options:

  • Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
  • Quinn Ewers, Texas
  • Will Howard, Ohio State
  • Kyle McCord, Syracuse
  • Riley Leonard, Notre Dame
  • Max Brosmer, Minnesota
  • Kurtis Rourke, Indiana
  • Seth Henigan, Memphis
  • Cam Miller, North Dakota State

Kicker

Last up, a little extra present for those of you who read this article all the way to the end, kickers. The Colts decided to release veteran starting kicker Matt Gay, shockingly, this offseason. They signed young kicker Spencer Shrader, but the team always brings at least two kickers into training camp. I expect that second kicker to end up being a UDFA signing from this year's draft class. There are three options that I'm watching closely if they remain undrafted after the final pick of the seventh round is announced.

UDFA options:

  • Maddux Trujillo, Temple
  • Andres Borregales, Miami
  • Ryan Fitzgerald, Florida State
