Colts sign UDFA Mose Vavao after rookie minicamp tryout

The Colts announced that they signed former Fresno State center Mose Vavao following him participation in the team's rookie minicamp as a tryout player. Vavao just finished a five-year college career all at Fresno State. He was a four-year starter and spent time at both guard positions before moving to center for his final season in 2024. He only allowed six sacks in his entire college career, with four being credited in the 2022 season. Over the past two years, he has only allowed one sack in each season, while playing RG in 2023 and center in 2024.
He is a versatile player who will be able to compete for a roster spot as a backup center or guard for the Colts. The team is pretty thin there currently, with Dalton Tucker being the only viable backup guard had of the season, and Danny Pinter and Wesley French competing for the team's backup center job. Though he is currently listed as a center, I think Vavao's best chance at making the roster would come at guard, and his experience there should help him do so seamlessly. On top of his starting experience, I'm not shocked that the Colts like Vavao with his athletic profile being a clear fit for what they typically covet. He earned an 8.56 RAS score thanks in part to him recording a 5.14 40-yard dash and 7.58 3-cone.
