Colts add an elite athlete who could be the answer at a position of need in a new 2026 NFL mock draft
The Colts land something they’ve been searching for a long time to find in a new 2026 NFL mock draft.
The Indianapolis Colts are one loss away from essentially locking up another season where they fail to make the postseason. This would come at the worst time, as the team elected to trade two first-round picks to the New York Jets in exchange for CB Sauce Gardner.
This puts even more pressure on the team to hit on their second-round pick and add an immediate impact player. A new two-round mock draft here at A to Z Sports has the Colts adding an elite athlete to their defense. A player they would hope could finally fill a weakness their defense has had for quite some time.
Colts select Cincinnati LB
“The Colts need this pick to have a solid shot at producing right away, with them not having a first-rounder to rely on. Cincinnati’s Jake Golday possesses a real skill in coverage at the LB position, which is a spot the Colts need to see improvement. He is expected to test exceptionally well athletically this offseason, which should raise his draft stock into this range, if not higher. I think he’s a dynamic talent who could help Indy’s defense take that next step.” – New A to Z Sports mock draft

If you are looking for an entertaining player to watch, I’d suggest checking out Cincinnati LB Jake Golday’s film. Golday has excellent size at the position, standing at 6-3, and possesses elite athleticism that allows him to fly around making plays. He is one of multiple potential game changing LBs in the 2026 NFL draft class and would fit the Colts like a glove.
Golday’s ability in coverage makes him a real weapon for any defense. The Colts have been looking for a coverage specialist at LB for a while now. The last starter they had who excelled in that area was Bobby Okereke, whom they also selected in the second round. Golday would be great in Lou Anarumo’s defense, but also could be a nice chess piece for a new defensive coordinator if Anarumo lands a head coaching gig.
