The Indianapolis Colts might have decided to keep their head leadership infrastructure of Shane Steichen and Chris Ballard together. Still, multiple teams around the league have openings they are looking to fill.

For teams looking for a new head coach, it seems Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo will be a top candidate. He is already set to interview for the New York Giants opening. On Wednesday, he will add the Colts AFC South rival, the Tennessee Titans, to his list.

Titans set to hold first interview with Lou Anarumo to be their next head coach

NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports that Anarumo will speak with the Titans tomorrow about their opening. Some fans may think otherwise, but losing Anarumo would be a massive blow to the Colts. Losing him to an AFC South rival would be downright devastating. The reality of the situation, though, is that there’s nothing the Colts could do to keep him if someone offers him this type of promotion.

The Colts’ defense lacked difference-makers on the defensive line, especially when DeForest Buckner went down with an injury. Some defensive play-callers would stick to their guns and refuse to make changes due to the personnel they are dealing with. Not Anarumo, he threw everything and the kitchen sink at trying to get the most out of this Colts defense.

This offseason, the Colts need to add more talent on that side of the ball. They need a starting-level edge rusher opposite Laiatu Latu, and their linebacker room needs a near-complete makeover. The Colts can’t afford to start from scratch in reshaping their defense, so retaining Anarumo is vital to their success in 2026.
