The Indianapolis Colts have a crucial offseason coming up. The team began the year 8-2 and suffered an embarrassing seven-game losing streak, finishing the year 8-9. They will have to maneuver the NFL Draft without a first-round pick after trading it for Sauce Gardner, and they have multiple key free agents to make decisions on.

WR Alec Pierce is the most important of their in-house free agents. He just had the best year of his NFL career, setting new career highs with 47 receptions and 1,003 yards. He also had the second-highest number of touchdowns of his career, with six. Now he’s set to hit free agency, and the Colts can’t afford to lose him. He has just sent a message to the team on what needs to happen for him to return in 2026.

Upcoming free agent WR Alec Pierce lets the team know exactly what he thinks about QB Daniel Jones

Pierce shared that bringing back QB Daniel Jones would go a long way toward helping him return as well. Jones suffered a torn right Achilles tendon this season. This created some doubt about his future with the team. Pierce and other Colts players don’t seem to think there should be doubt, though. They want Jones back as the starting QB.

The WR is set to make north of $20 million annually and has become a truly invaluable member ot the team’s roster. The franchise tag for a WR is set to be just over $28 million, and if the two sides can’t agree to a contract ahead of the deadline, they will likely have to use it.  Before that can happen, though, they need to take Pierce’s statement as a warning, sign Jones, or else.

Jones was expected to make $35 million or more a year before his injury. That price tag is likely affected by the injury, but the question is how much risk the Colts are willing to take to bring him back. They already likely have to re-sign him with their options at QB slim. Now they have to sign him or risk upsetting the most important of their in-house free agents.

It should be a fun offseason in Colts land, if your version of fun means multiple months full of stressful decisions, of course.
