Excitement is growing around the Indianapolis Colts following the 2023 NFL Draft. Drafting an elite athlete at quarterback will always do that. Even more so with a new head coach in place, too.

But despite that, expectations are all over the place. It is difficult to project just how successful the Shane Steichen and Anthony Richardson era will be right out of the gate. There's even a chance that the Colts take it slow with Richardson to begin his career.

Yet, that has not stopped one ESPN analyst from making a bold prediction for the Colts next season. Matt Miller's big prediction involving the Colts is that Indianapolis will be sitting atop the AFC South in the near future.

Miller acknowledges that the Jacksonville Jaguars have a good thing going with quarterback Trevor Lawrence leading the Colts' rival. Jacksonville, of course, won the division a season ago and even advanced in the NFL Playoffs.

Still, Miller is confident in Richardson's abilities. Especially when being coached by Shane Steichen. The ESPN analyst states that the Colts could "take over" the AFC South in the near future. 

Miller: Anthony Richardson and the Colts will be on top of the AFC South. He has immense talent as a passer and runner and his fit in Shane Steichen's offensive system will reignite football in Indianapolis. Even with Trevor Lawrence in Jacksonville, Indy could take over this division. Richardson's raw ability is unlike anything we've seen in football. So in five years, Richardson will be a top-tier starting QB and the Colts will be Super Bowl contenders.

Beyond just the division, Miller even boldly claims that in five-years, Anthony Richardson will be an elite quarterback, and that Indianapolis will be contending for the Super Bowl. 

The Indianapolis Colts swung for the fences in the 2023 NFL Draft. And if Miller's bold prediction for the team comes to fruition, then the franchise hit a monstrous grand slam.
