To say the Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback discussion has been a roller coaster would be an understatement.

But it's fair to say their recent announcement will make fans excited for the rest of the season. The team announced that Anthony Richardson is back as their starting QB.

Anthony Richardson named the Colts' starting QB for the rest of the season

In what was a shock to many, Colts head coach Shane Steichen announced that Anthony Richardson is back as the team's starting QB. He entered his scheduled media availability on Wednesday and, before taking a single question, gave by far the most candid and information-filled answer to what was going on behind the scenes.

"I've said 'the process, the process' for a long time, and what I mean by that is the attention to detail in everything he does. From the classroom, the walkthroughs to practice, the weight room, and all those little things. Just being a higher standard that's what was talked about, that's where we went with it. That was discussed with him two weeks ago, those were the conversations that took place. And over the last two weeks, he's made strides in those areas, big-time strides becoming a pros pro. Is it a finished product? No, he's not and its my job to help him get there along with the rest of the coaching staff, but he's a hell of a talent. We've never lost faith or belief in him or his abilities. With that being said, he will be our starter again; he's gonna start this week, he's gonna start the rest of the season."

My thoughts on this decision and how the team handled this entire situation will come out in an upcoming piece. But this move is massive for both the 2024 Colts and beyond. Their fan base was clearly losing hope and, to be honest, interest in watching this season with Flacco under center. So this move, in a way, gives their season and their fan base a second life. And it was certainly needed. They currently sit one game out of the AFC playoff race at 8th place in the conference. Winning can cure a lot, so it all starts in Week 11 on the road against the New York Jets.
